For managers who are responsible for a projectportfolio or, those soon to take on this role, together with project office staff involved in the support of portfolios.

This master class enables participants to organise and structure portfolios of projects using strategies that will maximise their value within the organisational constraints of resources and risk tolerance. It provides practical techniques for clearly assessing the desirability of the portfolio and for managing its 'do ability'. The constraints of time, cost, and effort which force selection, sequencing and prioritisation are discussed. It provides an in-depth understanding of the portfolio management process and how to select, prioritise, initiate and monitor projects within the portfolio, whilst also addressing the need to maintain a balanced portfolio by allocating and tracking scarce resources. Defining the process of portfolio management and discussing the areas criticalto its successful execution, allows participants to explore the associated complexities and clarify their understanding of the portfolio management role within their organisation.
