Sponsorship

Many managers, who are fully aware of ‘what good looks like’ in fulfilling a line management role, are unaware of the different behaviours and approaches that are necessary to good sponsorship.

CITI, in observing that many projects are unable to deliver effectively as a result of inappropriate constraints (inadvertently) imposed by senior management, have developed a series of interventions to help senior managers understand how they should act in their sponsorship roles.

The results indicate that good sponsorship is no less important than good project management – indeed, it is a pre-requisite for success in projects.
